A queer funeral

Yu Shijie (New York, NY)

We can die differently and fabulously. When I was in high school in China, my English teacher told me that I have to learn to not to be gay otherwise I will go to hell so I started to think maybe we don’t need to go to a boring heaven filled with conservative people, and we don’t need to have the heteronormative funeral we can have our own rituals and systems. By celebrating funerals, we are actually celebrating life.
